Wazeba of Axum

Wazeba (early 4th century) was a King of Axum in Northeast Africa. He is primarily known from the coins he minted during his reign. He was the first ruler to write the legends of his coins in Ge'ez, and the only King of Axum to use that language on his gold currency.

S. C. Munro-Hay suggests, based on a number of recovered coins that use a die from Wazeba on the obverse and a die from Ousanas on the reverse, that these two kings may have been co-rulers.
