Watsonville Municipal Airport - Instrument Approaches

Instrument Approaches

The airport has three approaches, making it a popular instrument training area.

  • Localizer Runway 02 (needs overwater flight)
  • VOR/GPS-A (from Salinas VOR)
  • NDB/GPS-B (from PAJAR NDB located 1.1 nm SW of the field)

Instrument pilots have been advised that Watsonville is occasionally surrounded by non-IFR traffic that (illegally) climbs/descends to low stratus layer. ATC usually calls them out, but they can not always see them. There are frequent traffic calls to CTAF even when IMC prevails become important.

Famous quotes containing the words instrument and/or approaches:

I have an intense personal interest in making the use of American capital in the development of China an instrument for the promotion of the welfare of China, and an increase in her material prosperity without entanglements or creating embarrassment affecting the growth of her independent political power, and the preservation of her territorial integrity.
    William Howard Taft (1857–1930)

These were not men, they were battlefields. And over them, like the sky, arched their sense of harmony, their sense of beauty and rest against which their misery and their struggles were an offence, to which their misery and their struggles were the only approaches they could make, of which their misery and their struggles were an integral part.
    Rebecca West (1892–1983)
