War Horse (play) - Film Adaptation

Film Adaptation

Steven Spielberg directed the movie adaptation of War Horse, released on 25 December 2011, with the screenplay written by Richard Curtis and Lee Hall. The film was shot entirely in England – in Devon, at Stratfield Saye in Berkshire, at Wisley in Surrey, in Luton Hoo Estate, Bedfordshire and at Castle Combe in Wiltshire, using real horses and computer-generated imagery rather than puppets.

Famous quotes containing the words film and/or adaptation:

Film is more than the twentieth-century art. It’s another part of the twentieth-century mind. It’s the world seen from inside. We’ve come to a certain point in the history of film. If a thing can be filmed, the film is implied in the thing itself. This is where we are. The twentieth century is on film.... You have to ask yourself if there’s anything about us more important than the fact that we’re constantly on film, constantly watching ourselves.
    Don Delillo (b. 1926)

In youth the human body drew me and was the object of my secret and natural dreams. But body after body has taken away from me that sensual phosphorescence which my youth delighted in. Within me is no disturbing interplay now, but only the steady currents of adaptation and of sympathy.
    Haniel Long (1888–1956)
