The Showground site adjoining Waltham Town Lock on the River Lee was chosen as the site for the Lee Valley White Water Centre for the 2012 Olympics. This was the only new Olympic venue to be open ahead of the Games, and offers the public the chance to follow in the footsteps of their Olympic heroes by taking to the rapids themselves.
