Walsh University is a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference of the NCAA Division II. In football, Walsh competes in the Mideast League of the Mid-States Football Association. However, on July 12, 2010, Walsh University was notified that it had been approved for the Division II membership process in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The Cavaliers will remain active members within the NAIA for the next two years while beginning the transition period. If all goes as planned, Walsh University will become a full NCAA member in the 2013-14 academic year.
