Wakiso District is made up of two counties:

- Busiro County
The district is subdivided into the following administrative units:

- 07. Kira Municipality
- 08. Makindye
- 09. Masuliita
- 10. Nabweru

- 13. Nansana Municipality
- 14. Nsangi
- 15. Ssisa
- 16. Wakiso Municipality
The district headquarters are located in Wakiso Town, approximately 20 kilometres (12 mi) northwest of Kampala on the highway to Hoima.
