Wai Wai (food) - Health Concern and Criticism

Health Concern and Criticism

Wai Wai is often criticised for the presence of Monosodium glutamate in it, although it is said to be present in less than 1%. A warning mentioned on the packet clearly forbids infants below 1 year age to eat Wai Wai (in extremely small print, behind the flap). Being very popular among kids in Nepal, its a major health concern. A case of bone malfunction of a 12 year old child due to heavy consumption of Wai Wai was once reported in the national channel, NTV, of Nepal.

Famous quotes containing the words health, concern and/or criticism:

The middle years of parenthood are characterized by ambiguity. Our kids are no longer helpless, but neither are they independent. We are still active parents but we have more time now to concentrate on our personal needs. Our children’s world has expanded. It is not enclosed within a kind of magic dotted line drawn by us. Although we are still the most important adults in their lives, we are no longer the only significant adults.
—Ruth Davidson Bell. Ourselves and Our Children, by Boston Women’s Health Book Collective, ch. 3 (1978)

Young women that would not be thought coquettish, and old men that would not be ridiculous, should never talk of love, as if they had any concern in it.
François, Duc De La Rochefoucauld (1613–1680)

The greater the decrease in the social significance of an art form, the sharper the distinction between criticism and enjoyment by the public. The conventional is uncritically enjoyed, and the truly new is criticized with aversion.
    Walter Benjamin (1892–1940)
