Church
On top of a hill to the south of the settlement is the landmark parish church from which the settlement gets its name. It is dedicated to the Three Kings (Slovene: Sveti Trije Kralji) and belongs to the Ljubljana Archdiocese. The church was built in 1698. It formerly contained a 15th-century statue of the Virgin Mary, which is now kept at the National Gallery of Slovenia. Its marble altar is believed to have been brought here from the monastic complex in Bistra.

Famous quotes containing the word church:
“There warnt anybody at the church, except maybe a hog or two, for there warnt any lock on the door, and hogs likes a puncheon floor in summertime because its cool. If you notice, most folks dont go to church only when theyve got to; but a hog is different.”

“In my dreams is a country where the State is the Church and the Church the people: three in one and one in three. It is a commonwealth in which work is play and play is life: three in one and one in three. It is a temple in which the priest is the worshiper and the worshiper the worshipped: three in one and one in three. It is a godhead in which all life is human and all humanity divine: three in one and one in three.”
—George Bernard Shaw (18561950)
“I believe that in this country the press exerts a greater and a more pernicious influence than the church did in its worst period.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
