The Battle For Berlin
In the Battle for Berlin 40,000 members of the Volkssturm (mainly young boys from the ages of 13-18 and old men) were used by the Nazi high command as a last ditch attempt to defend Berlin. In the final phase of the battle much of the Wehrmacht (45,000 men) stationed in Berlin were depleted, throughout the course of the battle 20- 40,000 military and civilian deaths occurred.
