Voice of Peace (Hebrew: קול השלום, Kol HaShalom) was an offshore radio station that served the Middle East for 20 years from the former Dutch cargo vessel MV Peace (formally MV Cito), anchored off the coast of Tel Aviv. Founded by the late Abie Nathan and the New York-based Peace Ship Foundation, the station broadcast almost continuously between May 1973 and November 1993.

“The steel decks rock with the lightning shock, and shake with the
great recoil,
And the sea grows red with the blood of the dead and reaches for his spoil
But not till the foe has gone below or turns his prow and runs,
Shall the voice of peace bring sweet release to the men behind the
guns!”
—John Jerome Rooney (18661934)
“And, shrilling from the solar course,
Or from fruit of chemic force,
Procession of a soul in matter,
Or the speeding change of water,
Or out of the good of evil born,
Came Uriels voice of cherub scorn,
And a blush tinged the upper sky,
And the gods shook, they knew not why.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“Sing unto the Lordwith the harp, with the harp, and the voice of a
psalm.
With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the Lord,”
—Bible: Hebrew Psalm XCVIII (l. XCVIII, 56)
“With the narcotic milk of peace for men
Who find Thy beautiful center ...”
—Gwendolyn Brooks (b. 1917)
