Vivaldi Atlantic 4 - The Route

The Route

The crew's aim was to break existing Atlantic Rowing Records and to create a new one for rowing directly to mainland UK. They set off from St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada on 31 May 2005 and intended to finish in Falmouth, Cornwall, England less than 55 days later. The route was 2100 miles long.

Famous quotes containing the word route:

By a route obscure and lonely,
    Haunted by ill angels only,
    Where an eidolon, named Night,
On a black throne reigns upright,
I have reached these lands but newly
    From an ultimate dim Thule—
From a wild weird clime that lieth, sublime,
    Out of space—out of time.
    Edgar Allan Poe (1809–1849)

By whatever means it is accomplished, the prime business of a play is to arouse the passions of its audience so that by the route of passion may be opened up new relationships between a man and men, and between men and Man. Drama is akin to the other inventions of man in that it ought to help us to know more, and not merely to spend our feelings.
    Arthur Miller (b. 1915)
