English Program
Visuttharangsi English Program has one of the highest turnover rates of teachers in Thailand. This may be due in part by the administrations inability to to honour contractual agreements. Like many schools in Thailand, it is rumoured that foreign teachers are required to sing and dance on command. Others speculate the turnover rate is due to a lack of discipline amongst the schools growing number of bourgeois students.
After leaving Visuttharangsi, a high percentage of former employees have sought employment in other countries such as Myanmar, China, and New Zealand. They have suggested that the torturous experiences at Visuttharangsi have forever disinclined them from teaching in Thailand. One former teacher, who had been given the tedious task of completing lesson plans, was locked inside the school after working late into the evening. He was forced to climb down a coconut tree.

Famous quotes containing the words english and/or program:
“Sir Walter Raleigh might well be studied, if only for the excellence of his style, for he is remarkable in the midst of so many masters. There is a natural emphasis in his style, like a mans tread, and a breathing space between the sentences, which the best of modern writing does not furnish. His chapters are like English parks, or say rather like a Western forest, where the larger growth keeps down the underwood, and one may ride on horseback through the openings.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“Typical of Iowa towns, whether they have 200 or 20,000 inhabitants, is the church supper, often utilized to raise money for paying off church debts. The older and more conservative members argue that the House of the Lord should not be made into a restaurant; nevertheless, all members contribute time and effort, and the products of their gardens and larders.”
—For the State of Iowa, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)
