Virginia Vallejo

Virginia Vallejo García is a Colombian writer, journalist, columnist, media personality, television anchorwoman, and socialite born on August 26, 1949 in Cartago, Valle del Cauca, who lost her career in television after her five-year (1983–1987) romantic relationship with Pablo Escobar, head of the Medellín Cartel. In September 2007, she published Amando a Pablo, Odiando a Escobar, which was listed by Criticas Magazine as the #1 bestseller in Spanish in the United States and by Amazon as # 2 bestseller in Foreign Language Nonfiction.

On June 3, 2010, the Colombian journalist was granted political asylum in the United States of America.
