Early Life

Cristoforo was born Kazue Yamane on September 3, 1917, in Ninole, Hawaii. She was raised in Fresno, California and Hiroshima, Japan.

Cristoforo married her first husband, Shigeru Matsuda, soon after graduating from a high school in Fresno.
