Clarke has been married to Tracy Hurley since 2004. They have a son named Oscar and live together in the United States, in Maine. Tracy Hurley is the sister of the American writer Tonya Hurley whose husband, Michael Pagnotta, is the manager of Erasure.
Clarke is left-handed.
