Playing Career
As a player, Del Bosque was a midfielder who played in La Liga 441 times with 30 goals. This career included spells at Castilla CF, Córdoba, Castellón, and Real Madrid. He won five league titles (1974–75, 1975–76, 1977–78, 1978–79, 1979–80) and four Copa del Rey titles (1973–74, 1974–75, 1979–80, 1981–82) with Real Madrid.
Internationally, Del Bosque received 18 caps with the Spanish national team, scoring one goal. He appeared for Spain at Euro 80, which would be a disappointing time for the Spanish exiting at the group stage of the competition.

Famous quotes containing the words playing and/or career:
“The greatest events occur without intention playing any part in them; chance makes good mistakes and undoes the most carefully planned undertaking. The worlds greatest events are not produced, they happen.”
—G.C. (Georg Christoph)
“A black boxers career is the perfect metaphor for the career of a black male. Every day is like being in the gym, sparring with impersonal opponents as one faces the rudeness and hostility that a black male must confront in the United States, where he is the object of both fear and fascination.”
—Ishmael Reed (b. 1938)
