Veteran Car Club of Great Britain

The Veteran Car Club of Great Britain is a vintage motor racing club in England. The club was formed in 1930 for "Veteran" automobiles (those made before 1905) and Edwardian automobiles (those made between 1905 and 1917). The club was the subject of a book, entitled Veterans of the Road: The History of Veteran Cars and the Veteran Car Club of Great Britain in 1955.

Famous quotes containing the words veteran, car, club and/or britain:

Science is, I believe, nothing but trained and organized common sense, differing from the latter only as a veteran may
    Thomas Henry Huxley (1825–95)

The reason American cars don’t sell anymore is that they have forgotten how to design the American Dream. What does it matter if you buy a car today or six months from now, because cars are not beautiful. That’s why the American auto industry is in trouble: no design, no desire.
    Karl Lagerfeld (b. 1938)

The creation of “strong-minded” women, so-called, is due to the individualism of men, to the modern selfish and speculative spirit which absorbs everything within itself and leaves women nothing but self-assertion for their protection and support.
“Jennie June” Croly 1829–1901, U.S. founder of the woman’s club movement, journalist, author, editor. Demorest’s Illustrated Monthly and Mirror of Fashions, p. 44 (February 1870)

The only reason I might go to the funeral is to make absolutely sure that he’s dead.
