Production
Although many models are under development or awaiting certification, just three have so far made deliveries to customers:
- Cessna Aircraft Company delivered the first ever production VLJ, the six-seater Citation Mustang on November 23, 2006. They have now delivered at least 400 to customers.
- Eclipse Aviation, delivered 260 of their Eclipse 500 aircraft - the first on January 4, 2007. The company suffered from a series of problems and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on November 26, 2008, and then Chapter 7 liquidation in February 2009. An investment by Sikorsky Aircraft is expected to bring an updated model currently called the Eclipse 550 into production in the future.
- The Embraer Phenom 100 has made 199 deliveries.
As of 2010, business jet sales were suffering due to the on-going late 2000s recession. The General Aviation Manufacturers Association reported in November 2010 that third quarter business jet sales were down 20.3% over the same period in 2009, with light jets suffering the most.

Famous quotes containing the word production:
“Constant revolutionizing of production ... distinguish the bourgeois epoch from all earlier ones. All fixed, fast-frozen relations, with their train of ancient and venerable prejudices are swept away, all new-formed ones become antiquated before they can ossify. All that is solid melts into air, all that is holy is profaned, and man is at last compelled to face with sober senses, his real conditions of life, and his relations with his kind.”
—Karl Marx (18181883)
“... this dream that men shall cease to waste strength in competition and shall come to pool their powers of production is coming to pass all over the earth.”
—Jane Addams (18601935)
“Perestroika basically is creating material incentives for the individual. Some of the comrades deny that, but I cant see it any other way. In that sense human nature kinda goes backwards. Its a step backwards. You have to realize the people werent quite ready for a socialist production system.”
—Gus Hall (b. 1910)
