Mick Rock Exhibition 9 February 2006

Manchester Vs Cancer exhibited the full gallery of the prints taken by Mick Rock on the evening of the 2006 concert at Vox Pop record shop on Thomas Street in Manchester (now called Cup) and was very much driven by Tom Smetham. The prints along with the guitars and amp signed by all the artists on the night were all auctioned to raise money for the charity at a gala dinner in 2008 based at the MEN arena.

Famous quotes containing the words mick, rock, exhibition and/or february:

America is the world’s policeman, all right—a big, dumb, mick flatfoot in the middle of the one thing cops dread most, a “domestic disturbance.”
    —P.J. (Patrick Jake)

I know it’s only rock ‘n’ roll but I like it.
    Mick Jagger (b. 1943)

Work, as we usually think of it, is energy expended for a further end in view; play is energy expended for its own sake, as with children’s play, or as manifestation of the end or goal of work, as in “playing” chess or the piano. Play in this sense, then, is the fulfillment of work, the exhibition of what the work has been done for.
    Northrop Frye (1912–1991)

In my experience, if you have to keep the lavatory door shut by extending your left leg, it’s modern architecture.
Nancy Banks-Smith, British columnist. Guardian (London, February 20, 1979)
