Famous quotes containing the words early, life and/or education:
“Probably more than youngsters at any age, early adolescents expect the adults they care about to demonstrate the virtues they want demonstrated. They also tend to expect adults they admire to be absolutely perfect. When adults disappoint them, they can be critical and intolerant.”
—The Lions Clubs International and the Quest Nation. The Surprising Years, I, ch.4 (1985)
“What was any art but an effort to make a sheath, a mould in which to imprison for a moment the shining, elusive element which is life itselflife hurrying past us and running away, too strong to stop, too sweet to lose?”
—Willa Cather (18731947)
“I am not describing a distant utopia, but the kind of education which must be the great urgent work of our time. By the end of this decade, unless the work is well along, our opportunity will have slipped by.”
—Lyndon Baines Johnson (19081973)
