Ventura County Gulls - Notes of Interest

Notes of Interest

  • Due to a lack of lights at Ventura College’s baseball stadium, the Gulls were one of the few minor league teams (if not, the only team) in the nation to have every home game played in the afternoon. This major restriction put Ventura County last in the California League in attendance (with 38,818) and was the main reason why the Gulls stayed in Ventura for only one year.

Famous quotes containing the words notes and/or interest:

There are only two or three human stories, and they go on repeating themselves as fiercely as if they had never happened before; like the larks in this country, that have been singing the same five notes over for thousands of years.
    Willa Cather (1873–1947)

Consider the difference between looking and staring. A look is voluntary; it is also mobile, rising and falling in intensity as its foci of interest are taken up and then exhausted. A stare has, essentially, the character of a compulsion; it is steady, unmodulated, “fixed.”
    Susan Sontag (b. 1933)
