Vehicle Registration Plates Of Alaska
Since 1921, the U.S. state of Alaska has issued license plates for vehicles registered there. Alaska became a state in 1959, plates prior to that year were issued by the Territory of Alaska.
State law requires two license plates, one on the front and on on the rear, to be displayed on a motor vehicle, with the exception of motorcycles and trailers. Only the rear plate is required to be stickered.

Famous quotes containing the words vehicle and/or plates:
“How strange a vehicle it is, coming down unchanged from times of old romance, and so characteristically black, the way no other thing is black except a coffina vehicle evoking lawless adventures in the plashing stillness of night, and still more strongly evoking death itself, the bier, the dark obsequies, the last silent journey!”
—Thomas Mann (18751955)
“Realms and islands were
As plates dropped from his pocket.”
—William Shakespeare (15641616)
