Van Siclen Avenue (IRT New Lots Line)

Van Siclen Avenue is a station on the IRT New Lots Line of the New York City Subway, located at the intersection of Van Siclen Avenue and Livonia Avenue in Brooklyn. It has two side platforms and two tracks with space for a center track that was never installed, as well as a wooden mezzanine. It is served by the 3 at all times except late nights when it is replaced by the 4 train. Some rush hour 2, 4 and 5 trains also stop here.

Famous quotes containing the words van, avenue and/or lots:

His reversed body gracefully curved, his brown legs hoisted like a Tarentine sail, his joined ankles tacking, Van gripped with splayed hands the brow of gravity, and moved to and fro, veering and sidestepping, opening his mouth the wrong way, and blinking in the odd bilboquet fashion peculiar to eyelids in his abnormal position. Even more extraordinary than the variety and velocity of the movements he made in imitation of animal hind legs was the effortlessness of his stance.
    Vladimir Nabokov (1899–1977)

Has anyone ever told you that you overplay your various roles rather severely, Mr. Kaplan? First you’re the outraged Madison Avenue man who claims he’s been mistaken for someone else. Then you play the fugitive from justice, supposedly trying to clear his name of a crime he knows he didn’t commit. And now you play the peevish lover stung by jealously and betrayal. It seems to me you fellows could stand a little less training from the FBI and a little more from the Actors Studio.
    Ernest Lehman (b.1920)

Once you are involved in politics, the most difficult thing is to go for hang [be sentenced to death]....We can’t cry over what has happened to us because other people suffer lots more than we suffer.... until you are killed, you can’t say that you have really suffered.
    Ela Ramgobin (b. 1941)
