Club Career
Demidov turned professional in 2004 when he joined Sandefjord Fotball, and made his debut for the club in the First Division when he came on as a substitute for Magne Sturød after 87 minutes in the opening match of the 2004 season against IL Hødd. He was then injured for a year and, after spending the second half of the 2005 campaign on loan at Second Division side IF Fram Larvik, returned to Sandefjord who had won promotion to the Tippeligaen, with the team subsequently telling the player that the best thing for him would be to join another club.
Demidov spent 2006 on loan with Manglerud Star Toppfotball after the club was relegated from the second level. Ahead of the 2006 season he lacked motivation to continue with football, but later stated that the year with Manglerud was the turning point in his career.
Demidov joined Hønefoss BK for the 2007 campaign, despite being wanted by top flight's Strømsgodset IF. He played regularly for the club in the First Division before moving to Rosenborg BK ahead of the 2008 season. At Trondheim he became first-choice centre-back from the beginning playing alongside Kris Stadsgaard, and was a part of the team that lost only one of 60 matches en route to winning two straight league championships, in 2009 and 2010.
In July 2010, as his contract was approaching its end, Demidov signed a three-year deal with Spanish club Real Sociedad, effective as of January of the following year. He made his La Liga debut on 29 January 2011, replacing French Antoine Griezmann in the last minutes of a 2–0 home win against UD Almería. All his other 12 appearances in the season were starts, as the Basque team narrowly avoided relegation.
On 23 July 2012, Demidov joined Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga, signing a three-year contract. He made his first appearance in the 0–2 loss against Borussia Mönchengladbach on 7 October.
On 2 January 2013, Demidov returned to Spain and joined Celta de Vigo, on loan until the end of the season. He appeared in his first match on the 12nd, playing the full 90 minutes in a 0–1 defeat at RCD Espanyol.

Famous quotes containing the words club and/or career:
“I think there ought to be a club in which preachers and journalists could come together and have the sentimentalism of the one matched with the cynicism of the other. That ought to bring them pretty close to the truth.”
—Reinhold Niebuhr (18921971)
“From a hasty glance through the various tests I figure it out that I would be classified in Group B, indicating Low Average Ability, reserved usually for those just learning to speak the English Language and preparing for a career of holding a spike while another man hits it.”
—Robert Benchley (18891945)
