USS Wallace L. Lind (DD-703) - ROKS Dae Gu (DD-917)

ROKS Dae Gu (DD-917)

On 25 September 1973, the USS Wallace L. Lind passed the familiar Columbia lightship for the last time as she sailed for San Diego. After spending the weekend conducting tours, she moved to the naval station on 1 October. Work was then begun in earnest to prepare Wallace L. Lind for decommissioning and transfer to the Republic of Korea under the Military Assistance Program. The first contingent of Korean officers and men arrived on 16 November, with the majority arriving in San Diego on 29 and 30 November. Wallace L. Lind was decommissioned and stricken from the U.S. Navy list on 4 December 1973, and officially transferred on that date to the Republic of Korea. She served in the Republic of Korea Navy as ROKS Dae Gu (DD-917). In 1994, she was stricken, and broken up for scrap.
