Construction and Commissioning
Ingraham was launched on 16 January 1944 by Federal Shipbuilding and Drydock Company, Kearny, New Jersey, sponsored by Mrs. George Ingraham Hutchinson, granddaughter of Capt. Ingraham, the ship's namesake, and commissioned on 10 March 1944 with Commander H.W. Gordon in command.
