Famous quotes containing the word fate:

See him, when starved to death and turned to dust,
    Presented with a monumental bust!
The poet’s fate is here in emblem shown:
He asked for bread, and he received a stone.
    Samuel Wesley (1691–1739)

Your fate is to be what you are. As mine is to be what I am—your master.
Griffin Jay, Randall Faye, and Lew Landers. Armand Tesla (Bela Lugosi)

    What generous beliefs console
The brave whom Fate denies the goal!
If others reach it, is content:
To Heaven’s high will his will is bent.
    Firm on his heart relied,
    What lot soe’er betide,
    Work of his hand
    He nor repents nor grieves,
    Pleads for itself the fact,
    As unrepenting Nature leaves
    Her every act.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
