USS Argus (PY-14) - Return To Yacht Service

Return To Yacht Service

The ship was sold in late 1946 and renamed Sarina. Owners included Egyptian cotton magnate Maurice Ada, American industrialist Larry Green, British Member of Parliament Loel Guinness, and film producer Robert Stigwood.

The Sarina was renamed Rosenkavalier in 1981 by a Greek owner, possibly Stanley Steeger; sold again to the Isaka family of Yokohama in 1988, and returned to Greek ownership in 1992.

In 1999 a new owner refurbished and renamed her Haida G. The Haida G has been restored to her original condition, including a refit of the original main engines and is still in commercial service.

Famous quotes containing the words return to, return, yacht and/or service:

Adolescence is a time when children are supposed to move away from parents who are holding firm and protective behind them. When the parents disconnect, the children have no base to move away from or return to. They aren’t ready to face the world alone. With divorce, adolescents feel abandoned, and they are outraged at that abandonment. They are angry at both parents for letting them down. Often they feel that their parents broke the rules and so now they can too.
    Mary Pipher (20th century)

To what purpose, April, do you return again?
    Beauty is not enough.
    Edna St. Vincent Millay (1892–1950)

I’ve given parties that have made Indian rajahs green with envy. I’ve had prima donnas break $10,000 engagements to come to my smallest dinners. When you were still playing button back in Ohio, I entertained on a cruising trip that was so much fun that I had to sink my yacht to make my guests go home.
    F. Scott Fitzgerald (1896–1940)

The gods’ service is tolerable, man’s intolerable.
    Plato (c. 427–347 B.C.)
