In Beaumont, the three highways briefly merge with I-10, but soon split from the interstate continuing northwest. In Lumberton, U.S. 96 separates from U.S. 287 and U.S. 69, and heads northeast. U.S. 96 ends in Tenaha at a junction with U.S. 59 and U.S. 84.

“To give an accurate description of what has never occurred is not merely the proper occupation of the historian, but the inalienable privilege of any man of parts and culture.”
