U.S. Route 75

U.S. Route 75 is a north–south U.S. Highway. The highway's northern terminus is in Kittson County, Minnesota, at the Canadian border, where it once continued as Manitoba Highway 75 on the other side of the now-closed border crossing. Its southern terminus is at Interstate 30 and Interstate 45 in Dallas, Texas, where it is known as North Central Expressway.

U.S. 75 was a border-to-border route, from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico at Galveston, Texas. However, the entire segment south of Dallas, Texas has been decommissioned in favor of Interstate 45, a cutoff section of town-to-town surface road having become State Highway 75.

Famous quotes containing the word route:

A route differs from a road not only because it is solely intended for vehicles, but also because it is merely a line that connects one point with another. A route has no meaning in itself; its meaning derives entirely from the two points that it connects. A road is a tribute to space. Every stretch of road has meaning in itself and invites us to stop. A route is the triumphant devaluation of space, which thanks to it has been reduced to a mere obstacle to human movement and a waste of time.
    Milan Kundera (b. 1929)
