U.S. Route 61 in Minnesota - Notes

Notes

The U.S. 61 Hastings High Bridge received considerable attention from increased bridge inspections in 2008 following the August 1, 2007 I-35W Bridge collapse in nearby Minneapolis. The Hastings High Bridge, a steel arch structure built in 1951, is structurally deficient and shows considerable deterioration. It is also a notorious traffic bottleneck because it has only one lane each way and dumps southbound U.S. 61 traffic into downtown Hastings. Starting in October 2010 the Hastings bridge will be replaced, with the projected completion in 2013.

Famous quotes containing the word notes:

    Or bid the soul of Orpheus sing
    Such notes as, warbled to the string,
    Drew iron tears down Pluto’s cheek,
    And made Hell grant what love did seek;
    John Milton (1608–1674)

    There are only two or three human stories, and they go on repeating themselves as fiercely as if they had never happened before; like the larks in this country, that have been singing the same five notes over for thousands of years.
    Willa Cather (1873–1947)

    Ceremony and ritual spring from our heart of hearts: those who govern us know it well, for they would sooner deny us bread than dare alter the observance of tradition.
    F. Gonzalez-Crussi, Mexican professor of pathology, author. “On Embalming,” Notes of an Anatomist (1985)
