Captivity
Uroplatus phantasticus is uncommon in captivity and often kept in breeding pairs or trios. Males can be housed together as intraspecific aggression tends to be low when captive conditions are sufficient. However, even in good circumstances there is occasional male-male aggression.
The gecko eats a variety of appropriately sized insects including crickets and moths. If breeding is successful in captivity, eggs will be laid at intervals of approximately 30 days and take 90 to 120 days to hatch.
There are seven zoos in the United States that have this gecko, two of which breed it, including the San Diego Zoo. There also thousands of Gecko hobbyists who breed this particular gecko with some ease and frequency.

Famous quotes containing the word captivity:
“Had it pleased heaven
To try me with affliction, had they rained
All kind of sores and shames on my bare head,
Steeped me in poverty to the very lips,
Given to captivity me and my utmost hopes,
I should have found in some place of my soul
A drop of patience.”
—William Shakespeare (15641616)
