Upstairs at Eric's

Upstairs at Eric's is the first album by British synthpop band Yazoo, recorded and released in 1982. It was produced by the band and E.C. Radcliffe, with assistance from Daniel Miller. It reached # 2 in the UK Albums Chart and # 92 in the US Billboard 200.

The album, named after the duo's makeshift studio location in producer Eric Radcliffe's home, contained two UK hit singles: "Don't Go" and the ballad "Only You". The North American version substitued the single "Situation" for the UK album track "Tuesday"; "Situation" was a mild hit in the US, peaking at #73, while in Canada, it made the top 40, peaking at #31.

The song "Midnight", track 5 in this album, was later sampled by Rex The Dog in his 2008's hit, "Bubblicious".

Famous quotes containing the words upstairs and/or eric:

When at length they rose to go to bed, it struck each man as he followed his neighbour upstairs that the one before him walked very crookedly.
    —R.S. (Robert Smith)

...there was the annual Fourth of July picketing at Independence Hall in Philadelphia. ...I thought it was ridiculous to have to go there in a skirt. But I did it anyway because it was something that might possibly have an effect. I remember walking around in my little white blouse and skirt and tourists standing there eating their ice cream cones and watching us like the zoo had opened.
Martha Shelley, U.S. author and social activist. As quoted in Making History, part 3, by Eric Marcus (1992)
