Upper Comet Falls is a waterfall in Pierce County, Washington. It is located along Van Trump Creek and is located a ways above Comet Falls. The falls may have been formed as a result of the floods of 2003 and 2006 that came down Van Trump Creek.
There used to be a bridge spanning the creek just below the falls, but it has been out since the debris flows in 2001 washed it away. The falls are easily seen from where the bridge used to be. Approaching the falls closely would not be terribly difficult, but one would have to climb over large boulders that were likely left there after the floods of 2003 and 2006.
Famous quotes containing the words upper, comet and/or falls:
“When my old wife lived, upon
This day she was both pantler, butler, cook,
Both dame and servant, welcomed all, served all,
Would sing her song and dance her turn, now here
At upper end othe table, now ithe middle,
On his shoulder, and his, her face afire
With labor, and the thing she took to quench it
She would to each one sip.”
—William Shakespeare (15641616)
“Ah, like a comet through flame she moves entranced
Wrapt in her music no bird song, no, nor bough
Breaking with honey buds, shall ever equal.”
—Stephen Spender (19091995)
“Industriousness and conscientiousness are often at odds, because industriousness wants to pick the still sour fruit from the tree, while conscientiousness lets it hang there too long, until it falls and bruises.”
—Friedrich Nietzsche (18441900)
