Based on the success of the Unreal series, Guinness World Records awarded the series with 7 world records in the Guinness World Records: Gamer's Edition 2008. These records include, "First Computer Controlled Deathmatch Opponent", "First Console Game to Receive a Downloadable Patch", and not surprisingly, "First Game to be Created Using the Unreal Engine".
