University of The Philippines Manila - Centennial Celebration

Centennial Celebration

On January 8, 2008, the University of the Philippines began its centennial celebration.

As part of U.P.'s centenary, a second Oblation statue in front of the Philippine General Hospital was unveiled on December 2008. It mirrors U.P. Diliman's possession of a second Oblation statue, which marked the 50th anniversary of the U.P. System, as this second U.P. Manila Oblation is the Centennial Marker of the system.

Famous quotes containing the word celebration:

No annual training or muster of soldiery, no celebration with its scarfs and banners, could import into the town a hundredth part of the annual splendor of our October. We have only to set the trees, or let them stand, and Nature will find the colored drapery,—flags of all her nations, some of whose private signals hardly the botanist can read,—while we walk under the triumphal arches of the elms.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
