University of New England Students' Association

The University of New England Students' Association (UNESA) was the representative body for undergraduate students at the University of New England, Australia. UNESA funded a radio station, TUNE! FM established April 1970), and a student newspaper, Neucleus (established April 1947), through a general service fee paid by all students to the University. Prior to 1990 the association was known as the UNE Students' Representative Council and, for a time, as the Armidale Students' Association. Following the introduction of voluntary student unionism, UNESA was dissolved at a special general meeting of the members in late March 2006. The functions and services previously provided by UNESA were taken over by Services UNE Ltd with undergrads@une being established to fill the gap left which required student representation. undergrads@une was replaced in 2009 by 'UNEG Ltd' (UNE Guild) - elections are currently underway.

Famous quotes containing the words university of, university, england and/or association:

Poetry presents indivisible wholes of human consciousness, modified and ordered by the stringent requirements of form. Prose, aiming at a definite and concrete goal, generally suppresses everything inessential to its purpose; poetry, existing only to exhibit itself as an aesthetic object, aims only at completeness and perfection of form.
Richard Harter Fogle, U.S. critic, educator. The Imagery of Keats and Shelley, ch. 1, University of North Carolina Press (1949)

It is the goal of the American university to be the brains of the republic.
    Johan Huizinga (1872–1945)

All the great speakers were bad speakers at first. Stumping it through England for seven years made Cobden a consummate debater. Stumping it through New England for twice seven trained Wendell Phillips.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

In this great association we know no North, no South, no East, no West. This has been our pride for all these years. We have no political party. We never have inquired what anybody’s religion is. All we ever have asked is simply, “Do you believe in perfect equality for women?” This is the one article in our creed.
    Susan B. Anthony (1820–1906)
