The University of Greenland (Kalaallisut: Ilisimatusarfik; Danish: Grønlands Universitet) is Greenland's only university. It is located in the capital city of Nuuk. Most courses are taught in Danish and a few in Greenlandic.
The university had an enrollment of approximately 150 students in 2007, almost all local inhabitants. It has around fourteen academic staff and five technical-administrative employees. The modest student population is due in part to the government's policy allowing students a free university education anywhere in Europe or North America, with most Greenlandic students going to school in Denmark.
