United States Air Force Fitness Test

The United States Air Force Fitness Assessment (FA) is designed to test the body composition, muscular strength/endurance, and cardiovascular respiratory fitness of airmen in the United States Air Force. As part of the Fit to Fight program, the Air Force adopted a more stringent physical fitness assessment in 2004 and replaced the annual ergo-cycle (stationary bike) test that the Air Force had used for several years. Results are stored in the Air Force Fitness Management System (AFFMS) and accessible via the AF Portal.

    The moment a mere numerical superiority by either states or voters in this country proceeds to ignore the needs and desires of the minority, and for their own selfish purpose or advancement, hamper or oppress that minority, or debar them in any way from equal privileges and equal rights—that moment will mark the failure of our constitutional system.
    Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882–1945)

    Horatio. It is a nipping and an eager air.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

    Teach us to live our lives with purpose and with power
    for visions of a better world and for decision’s hour;
    To choose the way of life, reject the way of death,
    until the radiant force of God fills mind and strength and breath.
    Walter J. Mathams (19th–20th centuries)

    Parentage is a very important profession; but no test of fitness for it is ever imposed in the interest of children.
    George Bernard Shaw (1856–1950)

    The face we see was never young,
    Nor could it ever have been old.

    For he, to whom we had applied
    Our shopman’s test of age and worth,
    Was elemental when he died,
    As he was ancient at his birth:
    Edwin Arlington Robinson (1869–1935)
