Safety Equipment
Safety equipment is required to be worn with every uniform, including PT gear, in those instances where the personal safety of the military member may be at risk. Beyond the obvious examples, such as flight crews wearing flight helmets and survival vests in helicopters, tilt-rotors and ejection seat aircraft, the more common examples include wearing reflective belts while riding bicycles or motorcycles, while engaged in hazardous work activities at night, or while performing physical fitnesss training such as jogging or running near active roadways at night (this being in addition to the already reflective Air Force PT gear). Great priority is placed on wearing the reflective belt or vest and disciplinary actions have been taken against military members for failure to wear same. There are two ways the reflective belt can be worn in uniform: around the waist and across the body from right shoulder to under the left arm.

Famous quotes containing the words safety and/or equipment:
“... what a family is without a steward, a ship without a pilot, a flock without a shepherd, a body without a head, the same, I think, is a kingdom without the health and safety of a good monarch.”
—Elizabeth I (15331603)
“Why not draft executive and management brains to prepare and produce the equipment the $21-a-month draftee must use and forget this dollar-a-year tommyrot? Would we send an army into the field under a dollar-a-year General who had to be home Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays?”
—Lyndon Baines Johnson (19081973)
