Trivia
- There is a col between the summits of Pico Duarte and La Pelona mountains, in the central mountain range of the Dominican Republic, which bears the name Valle de Lilís. There is an apocryphal story that claims that the reason for this name is because the dictator once had a mountain villa up there (2,950 meters above sea level), though no evidence of this has ever been found.
- There is an anecdote in the Dominican Republic that Lilís went to a little village in El Cibao and someone shouted "Qué Nublao!" (What a cloudy black sky!), the instant he saw the dark-skinned Lilís and not knowing who he was. Lilís responded by saying, "No se preocupe, la lluvia viene por' atrá..." (Don't worry! The rain is right behind.) They said that the rain was the killing of all villagers. No evidence of this has ever been found either.

Famous quotes containing the word trivia:
“Pop artists deal with the lowly trivia of possessions and equipment that the present generation is lugging along with it on its safari into the future.”
—J.G. (James Graham)
“The most refined skills of color printing, the intricate techniques of wide-angle photography, provide us pictures of trivia bigger and more real than life. We forget that we see trivia and notice only that the reproduction is so good. Man fulfils his dream and by photographic magic produces a precise image of the Grand Canyon. The result is not that he adores nature or beauty the more. Instead he adores his cameraand himself.”
—Daniel J. Boorstin (b. 1914)
