UEFA European Football Championship Mascot

UEFA European Football Championship Mascot

The UEFA European Football Championship has featured mascots since 1980. The very first mascot was Pinocchio, for the UEFA Euro 1980 in Italy. Since then, every tournament has had a mascot except for the UEFA Euro 2008, which had two. The mascots are mostly targeted at children, with cartoon shows and other merchandise released to coincide with the competition.

Famous quotes containing the words european and/or football:

I can never suppose this country so far lost to all ideas of self-importance as to be willing to grant America independence; if that could ever be adopted I shall despair of this country being ever preserved from a state of inferiority and consequently falling into a very low class among the European States.
    George III (1738–1820)

In this dream that dogs me I am part
Of a silent crowd walking under a wall,
Leaving a football match, perhaps, or a pit,
    All moving the same way.
    Philip Larkin (1922–1986)
