Famous quotes containing the words democratic, party and/or period:
“Its like pushing marbles through a sieve. It means the sieve will never be the same again.”
—Before the 1972 Democratic Convention in Miami. As quoted in Crazy Salad, ch. 6, by Nora Ephron (1972)
“Well, I am chiefly interested in the renomination, so dont get disconsolate over that. If we lost the election I shall feel that the party is rejected, whereas if I fail to secure the renomination it will be a personal defeat.”
—William Howard Taft (18571930)
“I dont like to be idle; in fact, I often feel somewhat guilty unless there is some purpose to what I am doing. But spending a few hoursor a few daysin the woods, swamps or alongside a stream has never seemed to me a waste of time.... I derive special benefit from a period of solitude.”
—Jimmy Carter (James Earl Carter, Jr.)
