United Kingdom
In the UK the term "truck stop" is not in common use and the equivalent stops are either transport cafes signposted simply as "Services", including many similar features to truck stops but also frequented by the majority of motorway traffic. They often include Travelodge accommodation, places to eat and newsagent shops such as WHSmith.
Service stations, as they are colloquially known, charge higher prices compared to equivalent stores on the high street.

Famous quotes containing the words united and/or kingdom:
“In the United States, it is now possible for a person eighteen years of age, female as well as male, to graduate from high school, college, or university without ever having cared for, or even held, a baby; without ever having comforted or assisted another human being who really needed help. . . . No society can long sustain itself unless its members have learned the sensitivities, motivations, and skills involved in assisting and caring for other human beings.”
—Urie Bronfenbrenner (b. 1917)
“The masses of the sea
The masses of the sea under
The masses of the infant-bearing sea
Erupt, fountain, and enter to utter for ever
Glory glory glory
The sundering ultimate kingdom of genesis thunder.”
—Dylan Thomas (19141953)
