Degrees and Honours
ARCM Hons (organ) 1965, FRCM 1996; Hon.FRAM 1988. Honorary doctorates: University of Ottawa (D. University) in 1993, University of Kent (DMus) in 1995, University of Sheffield (DMus) in 2005. He was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the Queen's Birthday Honours in 1992 and an Officier of the French Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 1998.
