Transportation in Seoul - Subway

Subway

Seoul has fourteen subway lines that interlink every district of the city with one another and with the surrounding area. In addition, in order to cope with all of these transportation modes, Seoul's metropolitan government employs several mathematicians to coordinate the subway, bus, and traffic schedules into one timetable.

Famous quotes containing the word subway:

In New York—whose subway trains in particular have been “tattooed” with a brio and an energy to put our own rude practitioners to shame—not an inch of free space is spared except that of advertisements.... Even the most chronically dispossessed appear prepared to endorse the legitimacy of the “haves.”
Gilbert Adair, British author, critic. “Cleaning and Cleansing,” Myths and Memories (1986)

    I leave you, home,
when I’m ripped from the doorstep
by commerce or fate. Then I submit
to the awful subway of the world....
    Anne Sexton (1928–1974)
