The Trafford Centre sponsors Salford City Reds rugby league club. Shortly after its opening, it was the setting for Shopping City, a BBC2 daytime programme. In 2010, the shopping centre was the focal point of the BBC's The Apprentice in which during week 5 both teams had to sell designer clothes in the centre for one day.
