In addition to commercial manufacturers, the Open Source Ecology group has developed several working prototypes of an open source tractor called the LifeTrac as part of its Global Village Construction Set. When technical documentation, including CAD blueprints, is completed for instructions to build it, people with access to the Internet will be able to download a full set of blueprints and manufacturing instructions to build their own tractors (assuming they have the necessary tools and equipment); under the open source license, the do-it-yourself tractors may be built and used for any purpose, including selling the working tractors.
