US Version
In 2004, the USA Network in the US screened an adaptation of the first serial, produced by actor Bruce Willis's production company, Cheyenne Enterprises and starring Jeffrey Donovan as detective Creegan. The premise was somewhat different than that of the UK series; rather than acquiring the ability to sense criminals, Creegan's recovery from a gunshot wound to the head instead strips him of his impulse control and sense of shame. While the American adaptation garnered critical acclaim, the USA Network deemed it commercially unsuccessful and opted not to renew the series.

“Truth cannot be defined or tested by agreement with the world; for not only do truths differ for different worlds but the nature of agreement between a world apart from it is notoriously nebulous. Ratherspeaking loosely and without trying to answer either Pilates question or Tarskisa version is to be taken to be true when it offends no unyielding beliefs and none of its own precepts.”
—Nelson Goodman (b. 1906)
