News and Weather
One of the Seven Network’s requirement for the show was that it contain a small news update. This was presented by Jennifer Keyte in the first three years, who Vizard called the Newsreader with the Mostest. Naomi Robson was the newsreader in later years. The news also included a weather segment, traditionally not the most compelling television. On Tonight Live, high profile guests were used to present the weather including Bob Geldof, Ben Elton, Kylie Minogue, The Georgian Knife Throwers and Australian businessman and entrepreneur, Dick Smith (entrepreneur).
